The chair was designed for one of the projects closest to the heart of Joe Ponti, to the villa of collectors of Placar in Caracas (1953-57). It is part of the Gio Ponti collection, which was curated by Molteni&C under the artistic direction of Cerri & Associati.
The architecture reflected the ideas that he gathered during his trips to Latin America in 1952-53. Today, the chair, which looks like a cozy sink, has a rigid polyurethane frame, a soft polyurethane frame and a pillow upholstered in fabric from the Molteni&C textile range with the ability to distinguish between the three components. In 2016, this “armchair of love” received the prestigious Wallpaper Design Awards and became the icon of Molteni&C.
